Make a Difference

Building a stronger foundation for our local young people

Partner with Solid Ground to provide specialised mental healthcare for adolescent girls in the Northern Rivers.

The Missing Middle

Support a young person to access care when it matters most

There is a significant gap in the current system for young people who are struggling, but do not meet the criteria for acute hospital care. When weekly therapy is no longer enough to shift a cycle that is building day-to-day, a more intensive intervention is required. The Solid Ground Model: Delivered four times per year in the Northern Rivers, our six-day residential "circuit-breaker" is specifically designed for adolescent girls aged 13–17. The program provides a safe, structured space to build stability and confidence through a framework of nature immersion, creative expression, and practical life-skills development. By integrating nervous system regulation with creative emotional processing, we equip young people with the tools to build autonomy and a stable sense of self.

Who We Help

A glimpse of the systemic gap

She is 15. On the surface, she is "fine." She walks through the school gates, manages her classes, and responds when spoken to. But this public functioning requires an exhausting amount of energy. Underneath the mask, she is fraying. Her world has become smaller; she is withdrawing from the sports she used to love and the friends who used to make her laugh, replaced by a quiet, mounting anxiety. At home, the exhaustion is visible. Her parents see the heavy silence behind a closed bedroom door, the sudden spikes of irritability over small things, and the long, hollow shutdowns. They are walking on eggshells, caught in a cycle of trying to reach her while feeling like every word they say is the wrong one. She might spend an hour a week in therapy, and that connection is vital. But one hour of talking cannot hold back the tide of the other 167 hours of the week. She is currently caught in a systemic gap—she is not in an acute medical crisis, but she is no longer coping with the weight of her daily life.

What We Do

A circuit-breaker for the whole family

We provide a circuit-breaker for the entire family unit. While the young person is in residence, the family begins their own journey of support.

The Residential Intensive:

A 6-day immersive program in a safe, structured environment focused on stabilisation and regulation.

The Concurrent Parent Program:

While the young person is away, parents engage in our online program and peer support network, ensuring they are prepared for her return.

The Post-Stay Integration Plan:

A dedicated follow-up framework to bridge the transition from the center back into home and school life.
